When a Finnish client sent us a poem titled The Journey of the Drill, we were deeply moved. This tribute to our colleague Anna embodies Panda’s core: delivering purpose, not just products.
The Journey of the Drill
(For Anna – who sent me on my way)
Dear Anna,
Far away in China,
where morning breaks early and steel is born,
you found me –
a drill with no story yet,
sealed tight in a crate.You didn’t just ship me.
You gave me a direction.
You made sure I would matter
wherever I landed.From the factory gates,
I sailed across oceans –
on a cargo ship heavy with machines and silence,
riding the waves westward,
past continents and currents.Days later, I arrived in the Netherlands –
first Vianen,
then Duiven,
passing through depots beneath flickering lights.
There were hands, papers, forklifts, and movement.
I didn’t understand it all,
but I was always moving.From there to Helsingborg, Sweden,
by land and ferry,
on through border crossings and schedules.
And finally, to Turku, Finland,
where northern skies opened for me.
But I wasn’t done yet.From Turku,
the journey went inland –
rolling further north,
until I reached Siikalatva,
a small place with big skies
and even bigger silence.There,
I will bite into stone and clay.
I will help build something real –
a cottage, a summer place, a dream.Anna,
you kept your promise.
You said I wouldn’t be forgotten.
And you were right.Thank you –
for sending me,
for believing I would be needed.
Now, at last,
I am home.
